World Language Program Overview
The Lincoln PTO World Language Program introduces all students, regardless of past language experience, to the basics of French, Spanish, Italian, or Chinese -all taught by experienced language teachers. The program runs for 20 sessions, they take place during lunch and recess time, one day a week -with the exception of Chinese, that will run for 10 session.
Objectives of the program are to increase global awareness and foster an appreciation for other people and cultures, create a positive attitude towards language learning, and help students acquire language in context through meaningful day to day activities and in a compelling way while supporting them through their conversational skills.
Activities may include playing games, learning songs, play acting, asking and answering questions, following commands, listening to stories, worksheets, videos, coloring, and craft projects. Topics may include the following at all levels of instruction of any given group: alphabet, greetings, colors, months, days of the week, seasons, celebrations, ages, shapes, family, clothing, body parts, feelings, animals, furniture, daily activities, vacation and travel, activities within the community, dates and times. Note that these topics will be included in different unit lessons throughout the year and keep students as the center of the curriculum.
Things to know about the WLP:
- Fees are assessed to fund the program.
- CANCELLATIONS: Session/classes may be cancelled if enrollment is low (fewer than 7 students)
- Fees may be reduced or waived for households requesting financial aid; please see the scholarship form.
- LUNCH: Please send your student with a home lunch. Otherwise, they will be asked to chose a "Kit" from the lunch menu. Packing a lunch ensures instructors can pick up students promptly and maximize our full hour of language instruction.
- Lanyards will be provided to homeroom teachers so World Language (WL) instructors can easily identify enrolled students at pickup.
- A WLP T-shirt is included with each registration. If possible, students should wear their shirts on the day of their session.
- ABSENCES: If your student will be absent on the day of their session, please email wlp@ptolincoln.org as early as possible to let the instructor know.
- The end date of each language session varies based on district days off and any instructor-rescheduled dates.
Fee: $225.00 for 20 Sessions + $20.00 Tshirt
Fee for Chinese Winter-Mini $112.50 + $20.00 Tshirt
Payment in full is required on the regular form. If you are requesting a scholarship, please fill out the form and continue without payment or with partial payment (Click "Scholarship Form" > Fill Out Scholarship Form > Submit form without payment).
Spanish, Italian, and French start October 19th, 2026.
Chinese Winter-Mini starts November 10th, 2026.

Classes require a minimum of 7 students to run, with a set maximum of 12 students.****
Registration Opens September 20th.
Registration will close end of day on October 11th.
